- The rental duration will be specified on your paperwork. At the start of your hire you will have a demonstration by a member of staff. You will then cruise round to island to the office with them for final paperwork to be completed. At this time, we can refuse hire if there are any concerns regarding competency and safety. The return time will be stated on your paperwork if you are late charges will be £100 per hour.
- The cruiser is for Non-Tidal Thames use only and you are responsible for the amount of cruising you do while ensuring you get back on time. The maximum capacity is stated on your paperwork. For Safety and insurance purposes if you exceed this you will be asked to vacate the boat. If it is reported after you have left us, you have more people on board. You will be asked to stop and vacate the boat.
- We recommend all children and non-swimmers wear a life jacket. These will be provided before you leave us. During you demonstration safety on board will be gone through with you.
- As the hirer you are responsible for any accidents, damages, or injuries that occur during the rental period.
- Refund Policy, if we must cancel due to adverse weather conditions (e.g. Flooding.) or mechanical issues. You will be offered a transfer of date or full refund.
- Damage Fees: On the day a deposit is made which is refunded once the boat checked upon return. We reserve the right to hold the deposit to cover any damages or breakages onboard.
- If for any reason you must cancel an administration fee of £30 will be deducted from any refund due. However, if the notice is less than 48hrs, no refund will be issued unless the boat is re-let when only the administration charge will be retained.
- No license is required, at least two people on board must be over 18 years of age and accept responsibility for the group. They must provide proof of home address and telephone number.
- Alcohol policy: It is a myth that drink-driving rules do not apply to Rivers, they do! We will not allow excessive amounts of alcohol to be taken on board and we will decline to handover the boat where we feel this might be an issue. There must always be at least two people within the legal alcohol limit and alcohol consumption by the rest of the crew needs to be an acceptable amount where it does not impede their ability to conduct themselves in a safe manner. If any boat crew is reported causing disruption on the waterway, then they will be escorted from the boat and all payments and cash security deposits will be forfeited. (In short if you are looking for a booze cruise don’t book self-drive!)
- All our day boats are booked and paid for in advance. On the actual day you will need to pay the deposit and the pet charge if you bring one.
- The Hirer indemnifies against any claims arising from the use of the boat for all parities on board. Caversham Boats Services accept no responsibility for any claims arising.
- The Hirer is responsible to ensure the boat is returned in the same condition as when it left, barring normal wear and tear. A penalty of £100 could be imposed if returned in an unclean condition.
It is essential to review these terms carefully before agreeing to rent a boat to ensure you understand your rights and responsibilities.
